Aphasia Support is a registered charity providing tailored speech and language therapy and long-term support to people with aphasia, and their carers.
Supported Conversation
Individual assessment: A speech and language therapist creates a personalised support plan tailored to the client’s communication goals.
Home visits: A fully trained volunteer visits the client at-home to provide one-to-one support every two weeks for a period of six months.
Supported conversation: The volunteer uses evidence-based supported conversation strategies to facilitate meaningful communication, helping the client to express themselves and engage confidently (without the use of technology).
Celebrate achievements: Milestones and progress are recognised to motivate and boost confidence.
Ongoing review: Progress is regularly reviewed by a speech and language therapist to ensure communication goals are met, next steps are clear, and future support is planned.
*Please note: This support is currently restricted to client's living in West Yorkshire, Harrogate or Barnsley.
How to make a referral
